It’s Spring…It’s Easter = New Life…

What a wonderful day…it’s Spring, it’s Easter and all that means new life…the last few days have been beautiful…in the 80’s, low humidity, blue skies and just wonderful to be outside…everything is budding, blooming and showing it’s natural beauty…and last night a line of thunderstorms came through…quickly and without fanfare (no high winds, tornadoes and damage) and was gone by the time we got up this morning…

The air was scoured clear and clean…the skies had a few clouds and patches of blue…it was beautiful to be out…we got some great pictures of the flowers (that have been there all winter) and flowering trees (Red Bud, Dogwood, and many more to come)…the mountains that surround us in Little Rock are wonderful too…the pine are green and the rest of the trees are in stages of budding…so all different colors on the mountains…we got a few pictures…

I will try to get a picture of the mountains in this post…all the different colors and the sun shining on the mountains with clouds showing up to give it a dappled look…so beautiful…

And all this with Easter coming tomorrow…all this reminds me of new life…when I see the beauty of Spring and think about Easter…I am reminded of my Mom in her final days…she was and is to me an example of hope, looking at each day a wonderful and positive experience…she lived a vibrant life…every morning…a new morning…everyday…a new day…she didn’t carry much from the day before…life is hard enough without carrying all the cares of the day before…and this morning was proof…after the storm went through, look at all the beauty it left behind…

Some months before my Mom passed away, we talked about her life and about life itself…she was in her 80’s and she was tired…I remember the time she talked about her Dad and Mom…my grandparents…she talked as if they were still alive…she knew it didn’t quite make sense…she knew something was wrong about how she was talking about them “being in the next room or something”…but it was just too much much effort for her to correct her thinking…she was tired…of life itself…it had become so complicated and her mind was not up to dealing with it…we talked, she knew I knew something was not quite right, but since it was all right with me…both of us talked like it was so…she love them so

But you know, she knew where she was going…and it was all right…she was ready, she told me…and though in a different time, she would have gone over everything…the finances, the funeral, the grand kids, how we would all get along…all the stuff we worry about…but she was ready to “go home” and wasn’t worried about a thing…it was to me, refreshing, knowing someday that would be me…Judie…so many others we know…

The best way to look at life is to look at Romans 6:4 “Just as Christ was raised from the dead by the glory of the Father, even so we also should walk in newness of life.”…that’s my preference…to walk in “newness of life”…everyday…like this day…to see the wonder of life itself…and to know that “Just as Christ was raised from the dead”…so we shall be…my Mom knew that as a certainty…she saw the “wonder” of life…everyday…and it was based on Jesus Christ, her Savior, who died, was buried and rose again to guarantee that she and all who believe will spend eternity with Him…(we went back to Wye Mountain for some pictures of daffodils and the empty cross)

And because of that empty cross, I will see her again…that will be a wonderful day…I think about it today because… it’s Spring…it’s Easter, and that equals New Life…I’m for that!!!…

  1. Looks like you are just a little bit ahead of us. We got the storm, Sat morning, but by the time we went to get our garden plants it was nice and sunny.
